About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our team at Smithfield Foods. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Services equipment by testing, troubleshooting, and repairing process equipment, its sub-systems, and ancillary processes/equipment related to the operation of the plant floor.
  • Plans and performs work requiring thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and principles of wiring, specifications, and national electrical codes.
  • Reads, understands, and uses drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals in the service of equipment.
  • Performs mechanical and electrical PMs as assigned, documents and maintains technical data, and uses the work order system to document repairs in detail.
  • Maintains and installs communication cables, power distribution, and wiring required for equipment as well as computer systems.
  • Adheres to all Company policies, including safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 2+ years of related experience and/or training in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years electrical, instrumentation, equipment maintenance, required.
  • Exhibits confidence in self and others, inspires and motivates others to perform well, works well independently or in teams, and earns respect through professional acts.
  • Treats people with respect, keeps commitments, and inspires the trust of others, observes safety and security procedures, and reports potentially unsafe conditions.
Work Environment and Physical Demands

The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.
