Role Overview:

The Finance Department is seeking an Assistant Controller to oversee general accounting functions and manage related personnel. This role includes responsibilities such as income statement forecasting, fixed asset management, banking operations, partner compensation, and account reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting staff.
  • Ensure timely reconciliations and necessary adjustments for all balance sheet accounts.
  • Oversee fixed asset maintenance and depreciation records, ensuring accuracy in inventory databases.
  • Calculate partner earnings and manage related journal entries.
  • Maintain accurate partner capital records and prepare capital statements.
  • Conduct monthly variance analysis and maintain year-end projections.
  • Manage vendor records in accounting software and payment platforms.
  • Oversee daily treasury operations, ensuring adequate cash flow for business needs.
  • Prepare necessary documentation for banking requirements.
  • Monitor financial operations for international offices and produce quarterly financial statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and coordinate with department heads.
  • Support financial audits and property tax filings.
  • Document processes and create best practice procedures for accounting activities.
  • Conduct accounting research and communicate findings effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years in general accounting.
  • At least 3 years in a management role, preferably within a professional services environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Strong organizational skills and self-motivation.
  • Detail-oriented with effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
