OBXtek is seeking a highly skilled Technical Security Systems Educator II specializing in Physical Security.
The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and knowledgeable professional capable of delivering instructor-led training while effectively communicating intricate technical concepts to security personnel with varying levels of expertise.
The instructor must excel in communication and possess robust technical capabilities across the following five Technical Security Systems (TSS) areas:
1. **Intrusion Detection Systems**: This includes alarm systems, sensors, fiber conversion modules, fiber optic communication cabling, uninterruptible power supplies, and NEC-compliant electrical installations.
3. **Physical Security**: Focuses on electronic fundamentals, vehicle barriers, public address systems, X-ray screening technologies, and explosive detection tools.
4. **Locks**: Involves GSA containers, vault doors, mechanical and electromechanical locks, and door hardware.
5. **Operator**: Encompasses a variety of security equipment and protocols, including alarm systems, explosive detection, locks, and access control systems.
Major Duties:
**Teaching**
Conducts comprehensive self-paced studies and team mentoring for training courses covering a minimum of 15 days of TSS topics. The duration of each subject may vary.
Successfully completes instructor qualification training, demonstrating technical proficiency in security topics and knowledge of instructional techniques based on adult learning principles.
Prepares training environments by organizing materials, setting up audio-visual equipment, and ensuring all training tools are functional.
Completes closeout activities by maintaining training records, reordering materials, submitting repair requests, and ensuring readiness for subsequent courses.
Collaborates with curriculum designers to define course structure and content, producing high-quality training materials for technical security systems.
Mentors new instructors and offers cross-functional support across teams.
Participates in cross-training to expand knowledge of additional training topics.
Qualifications:
Professional Qualifications/Skills:
An Associate of Science degree or related qualification from an accredited institution, or equivalent technical training. Relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
4+ years of hands-on experience in installing, repairing, and troubleshooting GSA-approved security containers, locking mechanisms, electromechanical locks, vaults, and associated systems.

Instructor experience is preferred.
Working knowledge of electronic fundamentals, National Electric Code, ANSI/TIA-568 standards, and OSHA safety regulations is advantageous.
This requirement does not apply to the Locks and Operator disciplines but is considered beneficial.
For the Locks discipline, current or former Locksmith or GSA Safe and Vault Technician certification is mandatory.2+ years of experience in Department of State TSS installation is preferred.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
