Job Title: Information Systems Technician II - Security Configuration

Division: Information Security

Union: IFT

Location: Springfield, IL - Sangamon County

Salary: Starting salary $5, commensurate with experience.

Overview:

Maintains security-focused solutions, both stand-alone and Software as a Service (SaaS), within the Office of the Illinois Secretary of State by providing installation, configuration, training, diagnostic, and administrative support for the effective utilization of these solutions.

Provides setup, configuration, and maintenance of both on-premises and cloud-based security solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the setup, configuration, and provides routine maintenance of security systems.
  • Maintains documentation of information systems security controls.
  • Performs routine system testing against security risks.
  • Completes necessary education, training, and certifications to stay abreast of latest technologies affecting Illinois Secretary of State information security.
  • Travels as necessary for education and meetings.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Education and Experience:

Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of 1 year of college, with coursework in the computer science field OR 1.5 years of technical systems and programming experience OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Requires the use and understanding of appropriate methods, tools, applications, and processes.
  • Requires the demonstration of a rational and organized approach to work.

  • Requires awareness and adherence to organizational standards for security, privacy, and ethics.
