Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Peer Support Professional to join our team at RHA Health Services. As a Peer Support Professional, you will play a vital role in providing individualized support and promoting self-determination and decision-making for individuals with mental health or substance abuse issues.

As a certified Peer Support Specialist, you will provide essential expertise and consultation to our interdisciplinary healthcare team, promoting a culture that recognizes and respects each individual's unique perspective and preferences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support and guidance to clients in accordance with their treatment plans
  • Assist in peer support groups and facilitate regular meetings with assigned consumers
  • Support clients in daily decision-making and problem-solving, and provide resources and information as needed
  • Accompany clients to meetings and participate in community groups to advocate for their needs
  • Foster healthy relationships and encourage participation in community activities
  • Model effective coping and self-help techniques, and provide advice on empowerment skills and successful community living
Requirements
  • Qualified Mental Health Professional Status and Peer Support certification or certificate of Peer Support supervision
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience working with individuals with mental health or substance abuse issues
  • Certified as a Peer Support Specialist or 1 continuous year as a current or former recipient of treatment
  • Valid drivers' license and automotive insurance
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screen
