Under the guidance of the Assistant Director for Clinical Development and the Medical Director of Cardiac Services, the Cardiology LPN plays a vital role in supporting patient care, operational efficiency, and clinical functions for the Heart Center, Cardiology Resident Clinic, and other associated sites.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Training staff on departmental pre-visit planning procedures.
- Conducting telephone triage according to established protocols.
- Reviewing referrals and scheduling appointments based on diagnostic criteria.
- Reconciling medical orders, including EKGs, Echos, X-rays, and Stress Tests.
- Compiling consult notes and communicating with referring providers.
- Acting as a liaison for inpatient discharges and follow-up appointments.
- Tracking patients for value-based payment initiatives.
- Training medical assistants.
- Managing the Cardiology task in-basket to meet service standards.
- Overseeing patient throughput for clinical trials.
- Collaborating with the Clinic Supervisor and Clinical Director on improvement initiatives.
- Working with physicians and medical residents to determine action plans for cardiology patients.
- Documenting telephone triage interactions in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Managing the medication refill process.
- Reviewing patient EMR for medication indications and history.
- Confirming medication prescriptions for accuracy, including dosage and frequency, while considering allergies and medical history changes.
- Contacting patients to schedule appointments as needed for refills.
- Pending refill requests to physicians in the EMR.
- Documenting and scanning all relevant information in the EMR.
- Performing other assigned duties as necessary.
- Licensed Practical Nurse - Required.
- DC License - Required.
- 2+ years of experience in an academic health system - Preferred.
- 3+ years of ambulatory nursing experience or 2 years of inpatient experience in a medical/surgical unit - Required.
Expected Pay Range: $63,636 - $70,000.
