Position Summary:

The Civil Infrastructure Engineer will serve as a project engineer, overseeing engineering design and construction initiatives. This role requires the application of standard engineering practices to develop effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop preliminary and final plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Review project plans and submissions for compliance and approval.
  • Supervise the technical work of engineering technicians and interns.
  • Act as the construction engineer, supporting the section's objectives.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

All candidates must possess a valid Driver's License recognized by the State of Utah at the time of hire. The following qualifications are required based on the grade level:

  • GRADE 15: Bachelor's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • GRADE 16: Bachelor's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering; must be licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Utah within six months of employment.
  • GRADE 17: Bachelor's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering; licensed as a PE in Utah with a minimum of three years of progressive experience.

Essential Functions:

The role includes preparing plans and specifications for various projects, managing construction processes, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Responsibilities also encompass:

  • Reviewing site development proposals for design adequacy.
  • Coordinating with field survey teams to gather necessary data.
  • Assisting in the preparation of master plans and feasibility reports.
  • Calculating project costs for budgeting purposes.
  • Overseeing consultant projects for feasibility and compliance.
  • Preparing legal descriptions for right-of-way acquisitions.
  • Managing the performance of subordinates and assisting in employee evaluations.
  • Coordinating with various stakeholders, including government agencies and the public.
