Job Summary

The Quality and Patient Safety Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the development, implementation, and sustainment of an organization-wide system of quality and safety at Boston Medical Center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Quality and Patient Safety team and cross-functional teams in strengthening the culture of safety and improving the reliability of complex systems.
  • Develop and execute project plans for quality and patient safety improvement projects, including project management, logistics, and reporting.
  • Provide supportive management oversight for the advancement of the culture of safety and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in risk surveys and assessments, incident reporting, and follow-up action plans to minimize patient safety risks.
  • Develop and implement programming to promote the BMC Culture of Safety and ensure national practice standards are incorporated into project work plans.
  • Ensure effective data management for assigned quality improvement projects, including data analytics and integrity.
  • Mentor Quality and Patient Safety Associates and develop positive, collaborative working relationships with medical staff, nurses, administration, and department management.
  • Interact with and support education for various personnel on quality improvement and patient safety science, including culture of safety and principles of high reliability.
Requirements
  • BSN required; Masters preferred.
  • RN clinical degree required; CPPS or CPHQ preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience in healthcare administration, with a minimum of 1 year in clinical quality/patient safety.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of patient safety science and quality improvement methodologies/tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
