About the Role:
The Urology Patient Safety Manager will be a strategic leader in the Department of Urology, focused on driving healthcare excellence through quality improvement and safety initiatives. This role will manage a range of impactful safety and quality projects, guiding them from initial planning to successful execution and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:- Work with departmental leaders to define and refine PSQ goals and priorities aimed at improving patient care processes, outcomes, and experiences.
- Offer strategic oversight and advice on healthcare quality improvement (QI) methodologies and measurement plans for clinical and non-clinical leaders.
- Act as a change agent to foster team building, innovation, and effective communication strategies.
- Design and manage detailed project plans, ensuring accountability and leading efforts to achieve measurable and sustainable improvements.
- Facilitate and guide multidisciplinary teams through advanced improvement strategies, ensuring effective implementation and results.
- Maintain the department's Safety & Quality Improvement Dashboard (SQuID), tracking and updating the status of process improvement initiatives.
- Support project teams in meeting goals and deadlines, resolving issues, and communicating progress.
- Collaborate with leadership and the data team to design measurement plans that provide automated, continuous data when possible.
- Guide data abstraction and ensure adherence to data integrity standards, including manual data analysis or validation as needed.
- Develop and execute data reporting and analytics strategies, interpreting data to identify improvement opportunities and track progress.
- Develop and optimize clinical pathways and operational processes, incorporating measurement into pathway development and monitoring adherence.
- Create and maintain standardized operating procedures for clinical process improvement initiatives.
- Manage a centralized repository of clinical department pathways and policies, preserving historical versions for reference.
- Prepare and present reports on project progress, outcomes, and barriers to departmental leadership and stakeholders.
- Share findings with internal staff, hospital groups, and academic audiences, and contribute to academic abstracts and manuscripts.
- Engage in mentoring and professional development for the PSQ and process improvement teams, participate in performance evaluations, and assist in recruitment.
Requirements:
- 6 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
