Nursing Care Specialist for Developmental Disabilities

Rappahannock Area Community Services Board seeks a skilled Nursing Care Specialist to provide high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities.
About the Role
This is a dynamic position that requires a compassionate and dedicated individual to work in a group home setting. As a Nursing Care Specialist, you will be responsible for providing general nursing care, medication management, and behavioral support to residents. You will also assist with scheduling psychiatric services, conduct routine examinations, and maintain accurate records.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide General Nursing Care: Administer medications, perform routine examinations, and maintain required records.
- Assist with Scheduling and Support: Coordinate psychiatric services, provide emotional support, and facilitate communication between residents and healthcare providers.
- Monitor Resident Behavior: Observe, document, and report significant behavioral incidents, as well as reactions to medication/treatments.
- Support Daily Living Skills: Assist residents with personal hygiene, grooming, eating, mobility, and community interactions.
- Record Progress and Communicate: Document daily progress, communicate resident behavior to staff, and ensure seamless transitions during shift changes.
Requirements
- Credentials: State Certified Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with valid Virginia Driver's License and current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience: Associate's Degree or completion of technical training program in Nursing, with some professional experience in nursing and/or behavioral health serving the intellectually-disabled population.
Educational Background
Pursuant to state requirements, the ideal candidate will possess an Associate's Degree or completion of technical training program in Nursing. Additionally, they should have some professional experience in nursing and/or behavioral health serving the intellectually-disabled population.
Salary
The estimated salary for this position is $60,000 - $70,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
