The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a dedicated individual to become part of our team as an Aquatic Program Associate.

As an Aquatic Program Associate, your primary duty will be to maintain the safety of all participants while cultivating an inviting environment for all.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure participant safety through vigilant monitoring and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Instruct swimming lessons for youth participants.
  • Execute necessary rescue procedures and provide first aid as required.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans customized to the skill levels of each group.
  • Consistently enforce safety rules and guidelines for aquatic facilities.
  • Engage in ongoing training and certification programs.
  • Foster positive relationships with members, participants, and colleagues.

Requirements:

  • Dedication to diversity and inclusivity.
  • Current certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR, AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration.
  • Minimum age requirement of 16 years.
  • At least six months of experience in aquatics.
  • Previous experience working with youth and diverse groups.
  • Willingness to participate in required training sessions.

Physical Demands:

  • Regular interaction with members and participants.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, lift weights, and maintain alertness at all times.
  • Capability to observe all areas of the assigned zone effectively.
  • Comfortable working in aquatic environments and performing lifeguard responsibilities.
  • Ability to hear distress signals and respond swiftly.

Salary: $17.48 to $19.48 per hour, based on qualifications.

Hours: Part-Time, up to 25 hours per week.
