Job Description

As a Water Production Specialist - Intern, you will be responsible for supporting the District's drinking water production facilities, water distribution system, and drinking water compliance program. Your duties will include assisting with various projects and programs, such as updating drinking water regulatory plans and reports, and assisting with distribution system-related programs like the Main Cleaning Program. You will also work on tasks such as data analysis in Excel, collecting samples in the field or laboratory, and tracking lab samples. Additionally, you will develop maps and write reports or procedures.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have strong analytical skills, including proficiency in spreadsheets and data management. You should also have superior math skills, as well as strong written and oral communication skills. A valid California driver's license is also required. At least Junior class standing is preferred, and completed coursework in environmental engineering, water treatment, groundwater resources, hydrogeology, chemistry, water quality, and public health is desirable.

Benefits

As a Water Production Specialist - Intern, you will not be eligible for District benefits. However, this role provides a unique opportunity to gain valuable work experience and skills in the field of water production. You will work in a dynamic and supportive team environment and have the chance to make a meaningful contribution to the District's mission.

Estimated Salary

The estimated salary for this role is $31.00 per hour, based on the location and job requirements. Please note that this is an hourly rate and not a yearly salary.

Interns will be hired on a temporary basis and will work side-by-side with District staff to obtain working knowledge and training in the area of assignment related to their field of study. Placement in this classification is temporary, and permanent employment is not guaranteed. Subject to these fiscal year time limits, intern work assignments are limited to a maximum of 12 months.

Examples of duties may include working with environmental engineers to carry out assignments, supporting the District's water production facilities, water distribution system, and drinking water compliance program. Interns will also be responsible for assisting with various projects and programs, such as updating drinking water regulatory plans and reports, and assisting with distribution system-related programs like the Main Cleaning Program.



Typical tasks for this role may include data analysis in Excel, collecting samples in the field or laboratory, and tracking lab samples. Additionally, interns will develop maps and write reports or procedures. They will work both in the office and in the field and must have a valid California driver's license.
