Validation Engineer / Co-Op

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Validation Engineer to contribute to the development and assessment of both new and existing manufacturing processes, as well as the upkeep of software and hardware associated with K-Tube's specialized miniature stainless steel production. This is a part-time role, offering up to 20 hours per week, and candidates must be local to the San Diego area as the position requires onsite presence.

Key Responsibilities


• Collaborate in the formulation of requirements and documentation for product launches.


• Aid in the development of testing protocols and corresponding reports.


• Conduct testing in alignment with established requirements.


• Ensure adherence to ISO regulatory standards and K-Tube's quality assurance protocols.


• Opportunity to engage in design tasks for the creation of testing fixtures or software aimed at verification and validation assessments.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, Bio-Medical engineering, or a related field.

· Must be enrolled in an accredited university and have successfully completed at least three years of undergraduate coursework (minimum of 60 credit hours towards a Bachelor's degree).

· Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.

· Ability to provide academic transcripts and a recommendation letter from a faculty member.

· Candidates are responsible for their own housing and transportation during the internship.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Previous experience in quality assurance, regulatory affairs, or design engineering within the medical device sector.

· Familiarity with all stages of product development, including design, implementation, verification, validation, and manufacturing is advantageous.

Skills and Abilities:

· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

· Proficient in MS Word and Excel.

Physical Requirements:

· Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds.

· Light to moderate physical activity is required.

· Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, and navigate the facility.

Work Environment:

· Work is conducted in both manufacturing and office settings.

· Exposure to metals, lubricants, solvents, electrolytes, and other potentially hazardous materials.

· Required to wear designated company attire.

Personal Protective Equipment:

· Safety glasses and safety shoes are mandatory.

· Additional personal safety equipment may be required based on specific tasks, including safety goggles, ear protection, full-face shields, aprons, arm guards, rubber boots, and gloves.
