Electrical Power Launch Engineer

SpaceX is a pioneering company that aims to make humanity a multi-planetary species. As an Electrical Power Launch Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing electrical power systems for our launch facilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop detailed electrical designs and specifications for power distribution systems, switchgear, and other electrical equipment.
  • Provide electrical engineering support to facility technicians to troubleshoot existing electrical equipment and controllers.
  • Design, operate, and troubleshoot all facility electrical components and systems, including load flow analysis, electrical equipment evaluation, and power monitoring hardware and software.
  • Ensure that all electrical designs and installations conform to applicable codes and regulations, including NFPA 70E, NFPA 70 NEC, NFPA 497, NFPA 101, and IBC.
  • Coordinate with local Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station electrical utilities personnel to ensure smooth electrical installations and maintenance activities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a similar role working on power distribution systems, switchgear, UPS's, and generators.
  • Ability to read and understand power and control schematics, as well as highly technical equipment operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), industrial pumps, and medium voltage distribution.
  • Working knowledge of power coordination and Arc Flash.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently and prioritize workload effectively.
Additional Requirements:
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Must pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg.
