Are you ready to take your career to new heights? Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a dedicated Range Safety Systems Engineer to join our team in Cape Canaveral, FL.

About the Role

This exciting opportunity will have you working on the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) program, supporting the Range Safety Coordinator for the FBM Test Missile Kit (TMK) production and the D5 flight test program. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that TMK flight hardware meets Range requirements to support program needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Witness testing, review test data, manage range requirements, develop Range Notifications, and integrate the Range Integration Team.
  • Participate in Failure Review Boards (FRBs) and provide guidance on Range reportability concerning the Tracking, Telemetry, and Flight Termination Subsystem electronics.
  • Support on-site as needed for FBM In-Tube Conversion at the Strategic Weapons Facilities and serve as the technical guidance on Range reportability for TMK related issues during conversion.
  • Generate technical reports and Range Safety Notifications on TMK anomalies when required.
  • Interface with the Air Force's 45th Space Wing.
  • Prepare presentations and technical briefings to support FBM Flight Readiness, Safety Review Boards, and Program Reviews.
  • Maintain a close relationship with the U.S. Navy to ensure customer requirements are fulfilled.
  • Provide direction in FRBs, present status to Senior Stakeholders, and understand when Sr. Stakeholders need to be informed of potential issues.
  • Provide guidance on general safety issues.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related Engineering degree or related equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Systems Disciplines in one or more of the following areas: a) Systems Safety, b) Range Safety, c) Knowledge of missile systems.
  • Experience with project schedules and Plan of Actions and Milestones (POAMs).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance, thus US Citizenship is required.
Desired Skills
  • Ability to organize/plan activities for multiple projects at a time (multitasking).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, with the ability to lead multi-functional teams, build strong relationships with team members, and build consensus among peers.
  • Experience in the following areas: Basic electronics, Range Safety Requirements, Working with Navy customer, Working with Range Safety, Flight Termination Systems, Failure Review Boards, Active Top Secret clearance.

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five-day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
