Job Summary

Leidos is seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Transmission Line EPC Engineering team. As a Manager of Electric Transmission Line Design Projects, you will oversee a dynamic team of engineers working on high-voltage transmission line projects for top utilities and developers. Your expertise in electric transmission line design, project management, and team leadership will drive our success in delivering high-quality solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead multiple design teams on various projects and programs for multiple clients, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Develop and mentor a team of engineers, providing training, coaching, and guidance to help them grow professionally.
  • Supervise staff, approving timesheets and conducting annual performance reviews to ensure team members are meeting expectations.
  • Participate in the leadership team of the EPC Solutions Section, contributing to strategic decision-making and business growth.
  • Create responses to RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs, developing proposal content and defining scope of work for new projects.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, driving the development of streamlined processes and tools to enhance departmental technical resources.
  • Delegate tasks to staff, forecast and plan their workload, and run recruiting activities to support aggressive growth goals.
  • Drive quality control processes to ensure the highest level of quality in all deliverables.
  • Liaise with clients to build strong relationships, facilitate business development growth, and foster long-term partnerships.
  • Manage the health of project portfolios, tracking scope, schedules, and budget with support from Leidos' Project Management Office.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (Civil Engineering preferred).
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in electric transmission line design, with a Bachelor's degree, or 8+ years with a Master's degree.
  • Professional Engineer License.
  • Lead engineer or engineer of record on 500kV and below high-voltage transmission lines, including greenfield lines.
  • Field experience or collaboration with transmission line construction contractors.
  • Excellent communication and business acumen skills, with a track record of meeting key project performance metrics.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently, with a passion for developing staff through mentoring.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • M.S. degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Experience with LPILE or FAD, Mathcad, AutoCAD or MicroStation, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a plus.
