Adult Substance Program

Thrive Behavioral Health, a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic, delivers mental health and substance use services since 1976.

We provide high-quality, low-cost care for Rhode Islanders, specializing in Adult Mental Health, Youth and Family, Substance Use, Housing, Teen and Young Adult, Court Ordered, and Crisis Behavioral Health.

As a Substance Use Disorder Counselor, you will provide specialized services to adults who are or at-risk of becoming chemically dependent and/or their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial substance use assessment services for adults.
  • Coordinate referrals to other substance use treatment programs or facilities in the community/state.
  • Provide chemical dependency consultation, education, and training to team personnel.
  • Develop and implement person-centered recovery plans and document services consistent with Thrive standards.
  • Coordinate discharge planning, follow-up, and aftercare.
  • Assist in community networking and education.
  • Provide education, training, and modeling in basic daily living skills, social, or parenting skills.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a behavioral health field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of relevant substance abuse experience with adults.
  • CDP or working toward credentialing.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance meeting Rhode Island minimum standards, or the ability to obtain necessary transportation.
