Job SummaryWe are looking for individuals who possess a strong background in accounting, auditing, and tax law, with a proven track record of success in conducting complex examinations and investigations. As an Internal Revenue Agent, you will be responsible for conducting independent examinations and related investigations of complex income tax returns filed by individuals or business/organizational entities. You will also be required to conduct examinations of complex individual and business taxpayers involved in activities or transactions designated or structured to hide or conceal income.

- Conduct examinations of complex individual and business taxpayers involved in activities or transactions designated or structured to hide or conceal income.
- Research and apply the Internal Revenue Code and regulations, revenue rulings, and court decisions to determine the correct tax liability.
- Examine and analyze accounting systems and records, including computerized accounting and financial information systems.
- Communicate and deal effectively with others, including taxpayers, attorneys, and other government officials.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Must have a bachelor's or higher degree in accounting or a related field, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to 4 years that included at least 30 semester hours in accounting or 24 semester hours in accounting and 6 semester hours in related subjects.
- Must have 1 year of Specialized Experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service, or meet the education requirements listed above.
