Job Summary

Guild Mortgage Company, a leading mortgage banking firm, is seeking a highly skilled Loss Mitigation Specialist, FHA/VA to fill a critical role in our organization. As a mortgage banking professional, you will play a key part in working with FHA/VA borrowers experiencing financial hardships to determine eligibility for loan modification programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Request and gather supporting documentation to create complete loan workout packages within required timeframes.
  • Follow up on outstanding issues to ensure decision process is completed in a timely manner and in accordance with regulations and guidelines.
  • Identify applicable options and communicate them to borrowers.
  • Prepare income/expense calculations and ensure compliance with agreed-upon standards.
  • Maintain regular communications with borrowers, exploring, analyzing, and responding to issues and concerns.
  • Submit denial letters for Quality Control review and send them to borrowers after receiving approval.
  • Provide accurate and complete information to resolve issues and follow up on any outstanding issues or commitments.
  • Prepare complete and accurate call notes, written documentation, and update customer files in the system.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals/teams to ensure high-quality and timely response and resolution to issues.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests.
  • Participate in activities and projects designed to improve business performance.
  • Identify and stay current on changes in industry regulations and recommend updates to internal policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Maintain and update procedure manuals to ensure internal procedures comply with investor and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze and resolve problems using sound judgment, expertise, and experience to create positive outcomes.
  • Run waterfall calculations and use data to assist in approval/denial decisions.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college courses or a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Three or more years of total back-office mortgage servicing experience required, with at least two years working in loss mitigation roles emphasizing home retention for FHA and VHA borrowers.
  • Strong working knowledge of FHA and VHA mortgage loan documents, including overall processes and inter-relationships, standards, and requirements.
  • Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures, CFPB, FCRA, and FDCPA preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to work in a fast-paced, department-metrics-driven environment required.
  • Intermediate math skills required.
  • Proficiency with basic internet searches, data entry, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
  • Familiarity with document retention software; Blitzdoc preferred.
  • 10-key by touch strongly preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Work is primarily sedentary; occasionally walks and/or stands.
  • Frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Ability to accurately interpret sounds and associated meanings at a volume consistent with interpersonal conversation.
  • Regularly required to accurately perceive, distinguish, and interpret information received visually and through audio.
