Job Overview

The Production Technician plays a crucial role in the operational efficiency and maintenance of a significant natural gas-fired combined cycle facility. This position is integral to ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient generation of electric power. The technician will be expected to grasp operational concepts and perform comprehensive analyses of plant systems to proactively identify and mitigate potential failures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations and maintenance activities to uphold safety and efficiency standards, adhering to corporate policies and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include managing plant start-ups and shutdowns, conducting operator rounds, performing daily chemical assessments, and maintaining communication logs.
  • Independently address abnormal operational conditions, coordinating with relevant personnel and utilizing management processes for work orders. This role requires the technician to develop skills in their primary discipline while also gaining experience in secondary areas such as Mechanical or Electrical/Instrument & Controls.
  • Support the Clearance Program by isolating energy sources prior to maintenance work, demonstrating a thorough understanding of plant systems and technical documentation.
  • Complete all mandatory and developmental training to ensure compliance with safety practices and operational excellence. Take initiative in providing on-the-job training and support for special training projects.
  • Assist in project and contract management tasks, including budget oversight as assigned.
  • Maintain up-to-date qualifications and knowledge of operational policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

Experience:

  • Level III: Minimum of four years in the operation or maintenance of a commercial power production facility, including nuclear, coal, or gas, or equivalent military experience, with a strong analytical and technical problem-solving background.
  • Level IV: Minimum of six years in a similar role with a focus on advanced analytical and technical problem-solving skills.

Equivalent Experience:

  • Level III: A two-year technical degree or equivalent, coupled with three years of relevant experience.
  • Level IV: A two-year technical degree or equivalent, along with four years of relevant experience.

Consideration for equivalent experience will be based on a combination of education, training, and professional experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge for this role.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Proficient in training and motivating team members.
  • Capable of interpreting technical manuals and communicating effectively in English.
  • Strong decision-making skills in high-pressure situations.
  • Physical capability to lift and maneuver equipment as necessary.
  • Experience working in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation systems.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership in equipment modifications and repairs.
  • Competence in performing predictive maintenance and analyzing equipment performance data.
  • Experience in contractor management when required.

Licenses and Certifications: A valid driver's license that meets insurance eligibility criteria.

Work Schedule: This position may require overtime and flexible hours based on operational needs.
