Role Responsibilities

In this pivotal role, you will be part of a distinguished team contributing to the Space Development Agency's Tranche 2 Tracking Layer initiative, which is essential for providing missile warning, tracking, and defense capabilities.

Your primary duties will encompass:

  • Designing intricate mechanical interfaces for missile tracking and defense subsystems.
  • Leading mechanical design evaluations and hardware validation processes.
  • Defining mechanical architecture and specifications.
  • Creating interface control documentation and conducting system-level engineering using tools such as DOORS and CREO.
  • Managing the design and development of hardware while adhering to budgetary and scheduling constraints.
  • Exhibiting a strong work ethic and comprehensive knowledge across various mechanical engineering disciplines.
  • Applying standard processes effectively to practical scenarios.
Qualifications

Basic qualifications include:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Systems Engineering functions, including:
    • System evaluations, operational concepts, and system modeling.
    • Development of requirements and interface documentation.
    • System integration, fault management, and testing.
    • Test planning and execution with an understanding of interdependencies.
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
Preferred Skills

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Over 5 years of experience in spacecraft or ground system architecture design and integration.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively towards shared objectives.
  • Experience in developing operational concepts and systems engineering documentation.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering tools.
  • Proficiency in programming or scripting languages.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, along with strong interpersonal skills.
  • A demonstrated capacity for systems thinking and problem-solving.
