About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team at Caregiver. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to lead their unique lives with dignity, independence, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate Daily Living Activities: Assist consumers in daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dining skills, housekeeping skills, social skills, and community access.
  • Provide Direct Support: Offer direct support to consumers in training activities as specified in Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and activity schedules.
  • Aid in Mobility: Assist consumers in mobility as needed, including those using wheelchairs and other assistive devices.
  • Assist with Meal Service: Assist with meal service, teach dining skills, and promote social skills and personal dignity during meals.
  • Administer Medications: Administer medications and treatments according to company policy.
  • Primary Person (P2) Responsibilities: Ensure the wellbeing of assigned consumers at all times, attend in-service training sessions, and serve as a role model and mentor to fellow Direct Support Professionals.
  • Data Collection and Reporting: Complete data collection, observation notes, and daily reports as directed by agency policy and procedure.
  • Transportation and Teamwork: Assist consumers in transportation as needed and participate as a member of the Individual Support Team, giving input toward the consumer's ISP.
Qualifications
  • Education: A high school education or its equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience: Some previous experience in supporting/assisting those with disabilities is preferred.
  • Age: Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Driver's License: A valid driver's license and a good driving record is preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Criminal Background Checks: Satisfactory completion of criminal background checks as required by federal and/or state laws and any other post-offer, pre-employment screenings as mandated by a governing agency or the company.
