Job Title: Direct Support Professional

At Resources for Human Development, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral health histories, and other challenges to live independently and achieve their goals.

Job Summary:

The Direct Support Professional will provide individualized support and supervision to our consumers, ensuring their safety and well-being in community-based settings. This role requires a strong commitment to person-centered care, collaboration with clinical staff, and implementation of residentially based interventions.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide supervision and support to individuals in accordance with their person-centered support plans, promoting healthy and socially acceptable behaviors.
  • Administer medication as prescribed and assist with activities of daily living, including meal preparation, toileting, and hygiene.
  • Transport consumers to appointments and activities, ensuring their safe and timely arrival.
  • Assist consumers in accessing community resources, including medical appointments, social security benefits, and other essential services.
  • Complete required documentation and maintain accurate records of consumer interactions and progress.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Basic computer and internet literacy, with the ability to utilize applications like email and time recording software.
  • Prior experience in the human services field, preferably in direct support or care work.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle safely.
  • Subject to employment screenings, including FBI clearance, as required.
