Role SummaryReporting directly to the State Executive Director, the Waste Management Supervisor will be responsible for cultivating relationships with Commingled Recycling Processing Facilities (CRPFs) and waste haulers. This role includes overseeing financial reimbursements to CRPFs and transporters, managing contamination evaluation programs, and facilitating the integration of new materials into the Uniform Statewide Collection List (USCL).
Key Responsibilities- Manage tasks and workflows to ensure timely submission and implementation of program plans, with guidance from the Executive Director and subject matter experts.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director, project managers, and consultants to fulfill CAA's obligations as the PRO.
- Oversee data collection and reporting processes.
- Maintain standardized project documentation, including logs of actions, issues, risks, and key decisions.
- Coordinate efforts to integrate new materials with state and national teams as necessary.
- Assist in managing specifically identified materials (SIMs).
- Recruit, train, and lead a team to achieve program objectives.
- Identify and engage in studies and pilot projects to explore alternative collection and processing methods.
- Proactively seek opportunities for innovation, operational improvements, and enhanced recovery rates.
- Review service provider submissions for accuracy and compliance, facilitating the invoicing process.
- Delegate tasks effectively to ensure program success.
- Implement policies and procedures to enhance daily operations.
- Plan and monitor budgets to meet financial goals.
- Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for risk mitigation.
- Facilitate communication and training among project teams to support program development.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Manage information for quarterly and annual reporting.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Engineering, or Sustainability.
- Over 10 years of progressive experience in managing recycling collection systems.
- Extensive knowledge of post-collection residential recycling systems and commodity markets.
- Experience in leading program innovations or start-ups is preferred.
- Proven track record in team leadership and management.
- Willingness to travel for stakeholder meetings.
- Location: Initially Fully Remote.
