Position Overview

PRIMARY ROLE

The Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of craft personnel on the construction site. This role involves close collaboration with the Project Manager to ensure all project operations run smoothly. Maintaining open communication with both the Project Manager and Division Manager is essential for success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct thorough reviews of project documentation, including plans and specifications.
  • Examine all subcontracts and purchase orders in detail.
  • Engage with the Project Manager/Estimator and Division Manager to discuss project bidding, labor costs, and equipment expenses.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of all work items and their respective budgets.
  • Aim to meet or exceed the established construction budget.
  • Familiarize yourself with scheduling requirements to achieve or surpass project timelines.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors and suppliers effectively.
  • Address daily project challenges with guidance from the Project Manager as needed.
  • Plan and layout projects for building locations and site work.
  • Verify field dimensions when necessary to ensure accuracy.
  • Review all submittals and maintain organized records.
  • Ensure the job site remains safe and orderly.
  • Oversee project safety and equal employment opportunities.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the office trailer and tool room/truck.
  • Recruit and dismiss workers as required based on project needs.
  • Implement quality control measures for both our work and that of subcontractors.
  • Facilitate problem resolution in collaboration with engineers and clients.
  • Maintain equipment in good working condition.
  • Compile and manage all field-related paperwork.
  • Coordinate all activities related to the project.
  • Ensure that necessary equipment is available on-site when required.
  • Assist in tracking change orders and additional work.
  • Monitor and ensure timely completion of punch list items.
  • Review and update cost sheets with the Project Manager's assistance.
  • Analyze job costs and monitor production expenses.
  • Coordinate weekly meetings with subcontractors.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a four-year degree in engineering or construction management, or an equivalent qualification, along with a minimum of five years of practical experience in construction management, particularly in industrial or mechanical sectors, design, finance, and project management.

Additional Information

  • This position reports to the Division Manager or Project Manager and involves decision-making that significantly influences client relationships and project profitability.
  • Travel to various project sites will be necessary, with travel-related expenses covered by the company.
  • Proficiency in computer skills is required.
