PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of craft employees on construction sites. This role involves managing multiple trade groups and subcontractors while ensuring effective communication with the Project Manager and Division Manager throughout the project lifecycle.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct thorough reviews of project documentation, including plans and specifications.
- Examine all subcontracts and purchase orders meticulously.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and Division Manager to discuss project bidding, labor costs, and equipment expenses.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of all work items and their respective budgets.
- Aim to meet or exceed the established construction budget.
- Familiarize yourself with scheduling requirements to achieve or surpass project timelines.
- Manage and coordinate the activities of subcontractors and suppliers on-site.
- Address daily project challenges with guidance from the Project Manager as needed.
- Plan project layouts for building locations and site preparation.
- Verify field dimensions as necessary.
- Review and organize all submittals in a systematic manner.
- Maintain a safe and clean job site.
- Oversee project safety and ensure compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) standards.
- Keep the office trailer and tool storage areas organized and tidy.
- Handle the hiring and laying off of workers as required.
- Ensure quality control for both in-house work and subcontractor activities.
- Facilitate problem resolution in collaboration with engineers and clients.
- Maintain and service equipment as needed.
- Compile and manage all field-related paperwork.
- Coordinate all activities related to the project.
- Ensure the availability of necessary equipment on-site when required.
- Assist in tracking change orders and additional work.
- Monitor and ensure timely completion of punch list items.
- Review and update cost sheets with assistance from the Project Manager.
- Evaluate job costs and monitor production expenses.
- Coordinate weekly meetings with subcontractors.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a four-year degree in engineering or construction management, or an equivalent qualification, along with a minimum of five years of practical experience in construction management, particularly in industrial or mechanical sectors, design, finance, and project management.
Additional Information
- This position reports directly to the Division Manager or Project Manager and is responsible for making decisions that significantly influence client relationships and project profitability.
- While the primary office is based in Las Vegas, NV, travel to various project sites will be necessary, either for extended periods or on a regular basis. Travel expenses incurred for work purposes will be reimbursed by the company.
- Proficiency in computer skills is essential.
