Position Overview

PRIMARY ROLE

The Superintendent will oversee, coordinate, and manage the activities of craft personnel on-site, which may include supervising multiple trade groups and subcontractors. Close collaboration with the Project Manager is essential to ensure seamless project execution. Maintaining open communication with both the Project Manager and Division Manager is encouraged.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct thorough reviews of project documentation, including plans and specifications.
  • Examine all subcontracts and purchase orders meticulously.
  • Engage with the Project Manager/Estimator and Division Manager to discuss project bidding, labor costs, equipment expenses, and more.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of all work items and their respective budgets.
  • Aim to meet or exceed the established construction budget.
  • Familiarize yourself with scheduling requirements to achieve or surpass project timelines.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors and suppliers effectively.
  • Address daily project challenges with guidance from the Project Manager as needed.
  • Plan and layout projects for building locations and site work.
  • Verify field dimensions as necessary.
  • Review all submittals and maintain organized filing systems.
  • Ensure the job site remains safe and orderly.
  • Oversee Project Safety and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) compliance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the office trailer and tool room/truck.
  • Responsible for hiring and laying off workers as required.
  • Implement quality control measures for both in-house work and subcontractors.
  • Facilitate problem resolution in collaboration with engineers and owners.
  • Maintain equipment in good working condition.
  • Compile and manage all field paperwork efficiently.
  • Coordinate all project-related activities seamlessly.
  • Ensure that necessary equipment is available on-site when required.
  • Assist in tracking change orders and additional work.
  • Monitor and ensure timely completion of punch list items.
  • Review and update cost sheets with the assistance of the Project Manager.
  • Analyze job costs and monitor production expenses.
  • Organize weekly meetings with subcontractors to ensure alignment.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a four-year degree in engineering or construction management, or an equivalent qualification, along with a minimum of five years of practical experience in construction management, particularly in industrial or mechanical settings, design, finance, and project management.

Additional Information

  • This position reports directly to the Division Manager or Project Manager and involves decision-making that significantly impacts client relationships and project profitability.
  • Travel to various project sites will be required, with work-related travel expenses covered by the company.
  • Proficiency in computer skills is essential.
