Job Summary:

This position reports to the Team Leader Maintenance at Paterson Frozen and is responsible for assisting the maintenance department with work around the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment.
  • Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
  • Transport machine parts, tools, equipment, and other material between work areas and storage, using cranes, hoists, or dollies.
  • Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Must have basic training in Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Fall Protection, and Sanitation, including GMP training, chemical handling, and cleaning procedures.
  • Must know the location of the controls and emergency stop switches in the plant.
  • Operate, inspect, maintain, setup, and cleanup of plant lubrication systems, bearings, and grease lines. Assist regular maintenance as required.
  • Must have good communication skills, written and verbal. Must be able to follow written instructions and possess good math skills.
  • Must be able to obtain forklift operators license.
  • Will need to acquire entry level maintenance tool inventory.
  • Must complete, maintain, and follow all safety guidelines, including LOTO.
  • Must be organized, and must be able to manage time wisely.

Work Environment:

  • Will work in all areas of the plant, both inside and outside during any and all-weather conditions.
  • Will regularly work near moving mechanical parts, around electrical equipment, and open circuits.
  • May work on wet, muddy, icy, or greasy floors.
  • Is exposed to hot and humid conditions as well as cold and breezy environments ranging from subzero to over 100° F.
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
  • Will regularly work in an environment in which the noise level is usually high.
