Job Summary and Qualifications

As the Clinical Pharmacy Manager, you will design, implement, and oversee pharmacy clinical programs. This includes formulary management, policy development, and education across the healthcare spectrum. You will also assist in managing the pharmacy in the absence of the Pharmacy Director or designee.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately interpret and verify orders in the pharmacy computer system.
  • Compounding and dispensing pharmaceuticals with precision.
  • Monitoring drug therapy regimens for contraindications, interactions, and appropriateness.
  • Maintaining the hospital formulary and promoting rational drug therapy selection.
  • Conducting drug utilization reviews to enhance therapy and formulate action plans.
  • Developing and mentoring pharmacy clinical programs such as drug consults, nutrition support, and pain management.
  • Managing the antimicrobial management program.
  • Overseeing the drug formulary.
  • Implementing pharmacy clinical initiatives and sharing operational responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or Pharm D. from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy is required.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year as a Pharmacy Clinical/Operations Specialist required.
  • 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience, preferably in the relevant area.
  • Completion of a hospital PGY2/pharmacy specialty residency or fellowship is preferred.
  • Specialty BCPS certification is preferred.
  • Other certifications (e.g., FCCP, FASHP) are also preferred.
  • Hospital Pharmacy Management experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations and reconciliation of figures is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Meditech, Business Objects, and purchasing vendor applications is required.
  • ACLS certification is preferred.
  • Active Pharmacist license in good standing with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy is required.
  • Active Pharmacy Consultant license, or equivalent as per State requirements is required.
