We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Pharmacy Manager to join our team at Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant. As a Clinical Pharmacy Manager, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing pharmacy clinical programs, including formulary management, policy and procedure development, and education across the healthcare spectrum.
Key Responsibilities- Interpret orders and transcribe or verify them accurately and efficiently into the pharmacy computer system
- Accurately compound and dispense pharmaceuticals
- Comply with facility policy and procedures and regulatory requirements
- Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose
- Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners and suggest appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives
- Sustain the hospital formulary, minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic interchanges, and promoting rational drug therapy selection
- Support participation in daily multidisciplinary and bedside rounds
- Identify, design, and analyze drug utilization reviews to promote rational drug therapy and determine action plans based on results
- Provide accurate and timely medication information to healthcare staff and patients
- Develop, manage, and mentor pharmacy clinical programs, including antimicrobial management and other programs as determined appropriate based on patient population and literature guidelines
- Bachelor's or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
- Minimum of 1 year as a Pharmacy Clinical/Operations Specialist
- At least 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience, preferably within the area of focus
- Completion of hospital PGY2/pharmacy specialty residency or fellowship
- Specialty BCPS certification
- Hospital Pharmacy Management experience
- Experience working in Microsoft Office, Meditech, Business Objects, and purchasing vendor applications
