Part-Time Science Laboratory Coordinator

Job Summary

This position is responsible for coordinating general functions in the science laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and safety protocols, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate laboratory services, including delivery of materials and equipment
  • Assist with running the laboratory, including preparing and inventorying complex reagents and chemicals
  • Monitor and handle hazardous materials, including chemicals and biological agents
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes and autoclaves
  • Ensure safety and quality assurance practices are followed, including maintenance of SDS workstations and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Provide routine laboratory support, including cleaning and restocking of labs and preparation of microbiological mediums
  • Track and coordinate budget expenditures
  • Maintain professional working relationships with laboratory staff and outside vendors


Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of related work experience
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures and safety protocols
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
