Position Summary: The Cost Accountant is integral to overseeing and evaluating the cost framework of our manufacturing processes. This role encompasses comprehensive cost analysis, budgeting, and financial reporting to drive efficiency and profitability. The Cost Accountant collaborates closely with production, inventory, and finance teams to deliver actionable insights that support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough analysis and data collection to assess costs associated with business activities, including raw materials, inventory, and labor.
  • Evaluate and document the results of data analysis.
  • Examine modifications in product design, raw materials, and manufacturing methods to understand their impact on costs.
  • Review actual manufacturing costs and generate periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in financial reporting.
  • Maintain accurate cost records to aid in expenditure control.
  • Analyze cost audits and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Estimate costs for new and proposed products.
  • Provide management with detailed reports comparing factors influencing product pricing and profitability.
  • Oversee the Cost Accounting System.
  • Calculate essential metrics such as labor burden rates, overhead burden rates, and labor efficiency rates.
  • Assist in the month-end closing of the General Ledger.
  • Conduct physical inventories and manage the cycle count program.
  • Reconcile finished goods inventories.
  • Communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Adhere to established organizational procedures in all tasks.
  • Undertake project-based assignments as required.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; or 3 years of experience with a Master's degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CPA certification is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access/SQL), with NetSuite experience preferred.
  • Experience in utilizing technology for complex financial consolidations.
  • Strong hands-on experience in financial modeling, problem-solving, analysis, and planning.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills; ability to assess overall business impact.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities effectively.
  • Ability to engage professionally with co-workers, customers, and vendors.
