POSITION OVERVIEW: The Applications Engineer will play a crucial role in delivering friendly, prompt, and precise support for Vertical Turbine Pump products and orders. This position will collaborate closely with engineering, production, and sales teams to comprehend customer needs and provide exceptional service that meets or exceeds their expectations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: To excel in this role, an individual must effectively perform the following essential duties:

  • Recommend optimal design selections based on customer operational requirements.
  • Choose materials that align with application needs while ensuring cost-effectiveness for both the manufacturing facility and the end user.
  • Conduct research and provide updates on product and system enhancements.
  • Deliver training on selection and quotation processes to external clients.
  • Estimate project costs and negotiate delivery timelines.
  • Prioritize projects based on urgency and potential for success.
  • Collaborate with the purchasing team to obtain pricing for components related to non-stock items.
  • Maintain visibility of opportunities for the field sales team through effective CRM management.
  • Provide timely feedback on customer orders.
  • Review pump quotations against design specifications.
  • Manage contracts for non-project orders.
  • Collect relevant information for creating submissions and executing orders.
  • Achieve annual margin targets and support site revenue goals.
  • Assist in evaluating customer credit requests.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and retention.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
  • Three to five years of relevant experience in pump sales and service.
  • Strong understanding of pump hydraulics, mechanics, and construction, along with common metallurgical applications. Proficient math and engineering skills are essential.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with strong verbal and written communication abilities.

PREFERENCES:

  • Professional Engineering (PE) and/or Pump System Assessment Professional (PSAP) certification is preferred.
  • Experience with Salesforce, MathCAD, and Pump Selection Software is advantageous.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and review technical documentation.
  • Capability to take a leadership role in team meetings and projects.
