Cyber Security Specialist - Subject Matter Expert

Location: Remote

Clearance- TS/SCI w/ FSP

The above salary range represents the range expected for the position; however, final salary offers are based on a number of factors such as the position's responsibilities; the candidate's experience, education, and skills; location; travel required; and current market conditions.

This program requires US Citizenship

The Cyber Security Specialist will deliver support for a large-scale technical development initiative focused on the Sponsor's Entitlement Programs, including Identity and Access Management (IdAM), Authentication, Authorization, Attributes, and Digital Policy Management. This role involves targeting, assessing, exploiting, and reporting on risks and vulnerabilities within information systems to furnish senior decision-makers with actionable insights. Cyber Security Specialists are tasked with conducting IT security and vulnerability assessments while managing overall network security through the use of specialized hardware and software.

Key Responsibilities


• Identify and establish relevant security controls and responses for the project


• Review responses, input data into the cyber risk management platform, and update risk assessments


• Identify common controls and draft standardized control language for the cyber risk management platform


• Execute security maintenance tasks, including vulnerability analyses and recommending solutions


• Stay informed about system-level changes, ensure appropriate patch levels, and upload periodic scans to designated repositories


• Achieve and maintain system accreditation, providing guidance, plans, evidence, and maintaining documentation


• Conduct regular reviews, such as audits, and evaluate security test outcomes


• Participate in or lead technical exchange meetings and application review boards, documenting action items and results


• Provide management with status updates

Required Qualifications


• Previous experience with programs of similar scale and complexity


• Familiarity with the Sponsor and its mission


• Typically requires a BS degree and 17+ years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 15+ years of relevant experience; additional years of experience may substitute for a degree


• Proven work experience in cyber security or a related IT field


• Demonstrated ability to perform complex technical tasks with minimal supervision


• Experience in designing, testing, or implementing IT security architecture


• Proficient in conducting network security analysis


• Experienced in developing risk management methodologies


• Skilled in analyzing test results to formulate risk/threat mitigation strategies


• Capable of communicating vulnerability findings and risk posture to senior executives

Desired Qualifications


• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science


• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)


• Experience with the Sponsor's entitlement management initiatives


• PMP, SAFe Agilist Certification, AWS certification
