Job Opportunity

La Rabida Children's Hospital is seeking a part-time Inpatient Pediatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our Medical Staff department in Chicago, IL. This position is benefits eligible.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide acute care to children from birth to young adults, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care. Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing advanced knowledge, skills, and expertise in pediatrics to provide acute care, health promotion, prevention of disease, and management of chronic disease.
  • Developing and updating collaborative agreements with physicians to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Coordinating eye exams, echo's, and Cardiology consults, as well as Pulmonary rounds and audits.
  • Facilitating rounds with the Pediatric GI team and coordinating subspecialty rounding as needed.
  • Providing primary care to patients on sea and sand teams, rounding on 5 to 8 patients per day, documenting and billing accordingly.
  • Integrating teaching into clinical practice to provide patient education and assessing learning needs.
  • Providing leadership and continuing education to advance knowledge and skills in identified areas of clinical expertise.
  • Consulting within the organization on current pediatric clinical practice and disease management.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • M.S. Degree in Nursing with training as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current Illinois Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN) license.
  • At least 3 years of experience as an APRN, with pediatrics preferred.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Certifications in CPR and Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.
