McCarthy Building Companies is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Manager to join our team. As a key member of our electrical design team, you will be responsible for managing a team of electrical design engineers and ensuring the successful delivery of electrical design projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of electrical design engineers in the development of electrical design documents, including installation documents, details, and installation packages.
  • Manage and coordinate with project teams, including project superintendents, field installation teams, and project managers, to ensure timely and effective project delivery.
  • Develop and implement new and innovative processes and technology to improve team performance and efficiency.
  • Provide project support during the pre-construction and construction phases, including reviewing and analyzing electrical drawings and designs.
  • Coordinate with design, pre-construction, operations, and trade partners to gather information and complete design within scheduled deadlines.
  • Prepare and develop conceptual designs and sketches to present to project teams and owners.
  • Perform and review calculations and studies, including power distribution calcs, lighting calcs, and cable sizing.
  • Develop and maintain McCarthy design standards and guidelines, reference guides, and symbols.
  • Support the development of workload and workflow management systems.
Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Autodesk products, including Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and BIM Docs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and MS Project.
  • Ability to read and navigate through construction drawing packages, electrical drawings, and 1-line diagrams.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and provide feedback to project schedules.
  • Ability to review electrical cables, conductors, and raceways sizing, including deratings and voltage drop.
  • Working knowledge of National Electric Code and other building code books.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lead others in a team environment and manage different project teams, personalities, and project needs.
