The Industrial Equipment Technician plays a crucial role in interpreting and applying blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and operational guidelines to effectively maintain and repair heavy machinery.

This position is accountable to the assigned Lead or Foreman.

Key Responsibilities:
The following duties are essential to this role, with additional tasks as necessary:

- Adjust and oversee the functionality of industrial machinery, utilizing control and regulating devices.

- Maintain, repair, or replace components such as transmissions and crawler heads with hand tools, jacks, and cranes.

- Disassemble and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.

- Assemble gear systems and ensure proper alignment of frames and gears.

- Clean components using grease solvents or immersion tanks.

- Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning and lubricating equipment and vehicles.

- Diagnose issues or malfunctions to determine necessary repairs, employing engine diagnostic tools and calibration devices.

- Inspect parts for damage or excessive wear using precision measuring instruments.

- Fabricate necessary components from sheet metal.

- Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

- Operate and evaluate machines or heavy marine equipment to identify defects.

- Overhaul and test machinery to confirm operational efficiency.

- Repair and replace worn or damaged parts.

- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems.

- Schedule maintenance for industrial equipment and maintain service records. Research, order, and manage parts inventory for repairs.

- Test mechanical products and equipment post-repair to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications.

- Weld or solder broken components and structural elements using electric or gas welding tools.

- Follow technical documentation, reporting any discrepancies and suggesting solutions.

- Possess a solid understanding of procedures, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to follow directions.

- Read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.

- Conduct inspections of work, identify potential issues, and initiate corrective actions.

- Promote awareness of quality procedures within the department.

- Collaborate effectively as a team member to achieve daily objectives set by the supervisor.

- General knowledge of USN Standard Items.

- Familiarity with valve repair and rebuilding.

- Knowledge of pump repair and overhaul.

- Adjust and maintain industrial machinery, demonstrating expertise in machinery alignment.

Required Qualifications:


A High School Diploma or equivalent from a technical school is preferred, along with relevant experience in a mechanical role.


Preferred Experience:
- Journeyman 3: 5+ years and/or specialized training
- Journeyman 2: 3-5 years
- Journeyman 1: 1-3 years

- Ability to perform basic arithmetic and measurements using the metric system.

- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a shipyard or industrial setting.

- Eligibility for TWIX card and DBIDS credentials (as required)

Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of a drug screening.

- Possession of a valid U.S. Driver's License.

Working Environment:
- Exposure to open-air conditions, including noise, heat, and cold, as well as office-controlled environments.

- Potential visits to projects aboard ships and rigs, both onshore and offshore, including confined spaces. Proper PPE must be worn when required.

- Involves working with hot and potentially hazardous materials.

- Requires climbing (up to 100 feet) and lifting (up to 50 lbs.).

- Visits may involve standing on various surfaces, bending, crouching, and navigating over obstructions such as scaffolding and ladders.
