Position Overview:
The Equipment Maintenance Technician I is tasked with performing fundamental repairs, routine maintenance, pre-delivery evaluations (PDE), and the deployment of machinery within the rental inventory. The types of machinery serviced may encompass earth-moving, aerial, landscaping, material handling, and additional equipment.
This technician is responsible for executing regular preventative maintenance on equipment to guarantee it remains in optimal rental condition, thereby minimizing the likelihood of malfunctions on job sites.
The Equipment Maintenance Technician I is also known as the Shop Technician I.
Core Responsibilities:
- 10% Administrative Duties - Records all tasks completed using tablet technology, including the finalization of work orders to document parts usage and labor, conducting parts inventory assessments, etc.; Verifies GPS units on machinery and ensures they are activated and functioning correctly, troubleshooting with the IT team as necessary; Retrieves equipment from job sites as required.
- 20% Conduct Inspections - Executes aerial lift inspections following the mandated checklist; Cleans machinery and trailers.
- 30% Perform Preventative Maintenance and Pre-Delivery Evaluations - Carries out preventative maintenance (PMs) on equipment in accordance with the established schedule/maintenance intervals; Conducts pre-delivery evaluations (PDEs) on machinery and trailers to confirm rental readiness before deployment.
- 30% Troubleshooting and Repairs - Engages in troubleshooting and repairs on small engines, including fuel systems, oil and air filtration systems, ignition systems, etc.; Changes wheels, tracks, and tires on machinery and trailers; Conducts maintenance and repairs on trailers.
- 10% Safety Compliance - Adheres to shop safety protocols, including the proper storage of supplies and fuel, appropriate disposal of waste oils and fluids, and safe lifting and moving of materials and equipment; Operates forklifts safely to load, unload, and transport equipment and materials within the shop and yard.
- This position reports to the Rental Regional Manager.
- This position has no direct reports.
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
- Must consistently stand or walk and regularly lift/handle/carry materials or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
- Generally in a comfortable setting but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes that may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of injury or illness.
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Ability to communicate complex or technical concepts in easily understandable terms to diverse audiences.
