Job Title: Staff Accountant - Financial Reporting Specialist

Young Community Developers is seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our team. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for managing bookkeeping and budgeting, assisting with financial planning and review, and working with fiscal sponsor staff to migrate information and ensure timely financial data.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare general ledger journal entries, monthly balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliation using QuickBooks.
  • Develop, analyze, and prepare periodic financial statements for timely distribution to management.
  • Research and implement a payroll system for BWRADV staff.
  • Coordinate implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.
  • Complete accounts payable functions, including verifying invoices, expense reports, check requests, reimbursements, and purchase requisitions.
  • Perform accounts receivable functions, including applying payments to appropriate accounts, monthly invoicing, reconciling accounts, and handling inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with fiscal sponsorship requirements and accounting standards.
  • Track and report on 6+ grants and funding expenditures.
  • Prepare documentation for audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Create and articulate profit and loss statements.
  • Support budget preparation, planning, and monitoring.
  • Perform banking procedures and reconcile petty cash funds.
  • Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare account analyses and reconciliation.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of two years of accounting experience, preferably with a non-profit organization or experience managing grants.
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field highly desired.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks accounting software and MS Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills, able to manage priorities and workflow.
Additional Information:

This is a contract position working 24 hours per week with working hours to be set between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. This role is hybrid and one scheduled 8-hour work day in the office is required weekly. BWRADV is a fiscally sponsored program of YCD, and this position will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial reporting and supporting leadership with a clear understanding of evolving financial needs.
