About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Staff Accountant to join our expanding team at Handshake. As a key member of our financial operations team, you will play a crucial part in the accounting process, supporting the Accounts Payable Manager and ensuring the accuracy and alignment of our financial records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Invoice and Credit Card Processing: Enter, code, and process invoices and credit card charges accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Vendor Relations: Work with vendors to onboard them and resolve payment inquiries as needed.
  • Financial Compliance: Validate policy compliance for bills, credit card charges, and expenses filed via expense report against approved purchase requests.
  • Expense Report Management: Review and approve expense reports based on the company's expense report policy.
  • School Payment Reimbursements: Manage the school payment reimbursements process.
  • Bank Account Management: Ensure timely posting of bank account transactions and ensure bank posting completeness on a weekly basis.
  • Month-End Duties: Perform month-end duties such as posting journal entries and account reconciliations (Fixed Assets, Prepaid Expenses, Cash, and Banks).
  • Check Deposit and Customer Payment Application: Handle checks deposit and customer payment application.
  • Statutory Filing: Assist in statutory filing.
  • Process Improvement: Support automation efforts in procurement to pay and expense reimbursement process.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Ad-Hoc Projects: Perform ad-hoc projects as necessary.
Requirements
  • Experience: 2-3 years of related accounting experience is required.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with Netsuite, Bill, Expensify, and G-Suite.
  • Business Acumen: Experience within a high-growth/fast-paced business.
  • Teamwork: Skilled team player with experience working with cross-functional business stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Education: BS/BA Degree or equivalent with a background.

Compensation Range
  • $80k - $90k: For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies.
