Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Director of Equity and Inclusion at InsideHigherEd. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic approach to faculty recruiting, onboarding, and retention, with a focus on promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a model Equal Employment Opportunity program that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Examine employment policies, procedures, and practices to identify and remove barriers, particularly as it relates to faculty and exempt staff.
  • Address and correct deficiencies and ensure discrimination-free employment decision-making.
  • Effectively communicate the legal, economic, and cultural imperative of workplace equality.
  • Make data-informed decisions to develop strategy and implement courses of action.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree and at least seven years of experience working in equal employment opportunity or related fields, with progressively more responsibility and oversight. They will also have experience managing, directing, and evaluating the work of others, as well as knowledge of state and federal laws applicable to equity and diversity and employee relations.

The successful candidate will be able to effectively collect, analyze, evaluate, and prepare statistical data, maintain confidentiality, and work effectively with individuals from all levels of staff, faculty, students, and external stakeholders across a large, complex institutional structure.

Preferred Qualifications

A terminal degree or JD, experience in higher education, preferably as faculty or faculty adjacent, and experience related to recruiting, hiring, evaluating, and retention efforts are preferred.
