About the Unit

Our 6 South surgical unit is a 32-bed facility that specializes in post-operative care for abdominal surgery patients. As a RN on our team, you will work closely with surgeons and surgical residents to provide high-quality patient care. Our unit fosters a collaborative and friendly atmosphere, with a strong focus on teamwork and open communication.

We have 8 telemetry beds for patients requiring cardiac monitoring post-surgery. Our team is dedicated to providing exceptional care and creating a positive experience for our patients.

Scope of Work

As a RN on our team, you will utilize the nursing process to provide professional nursing care, incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge patients. You will work under the direction of the Nurse Leader and adhere to Corewell Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications
  • Associates in Nursing is required.
  • Bachelors in Nursing is required within 5 years.
  • Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed healthcare role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) is required.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) is required within 90 days.
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is required within 6 months.
  • Specialty Certification is highly recommended within 2 years.
