The Medical patient population includes Mental Status changes, Seizures, GI bleed, Pneumonia, Stroke, Polydrug Abuse, ETOH Abuse on CIWA pathways, Psychiatric patients, Palliative Care, hospice, Multiple Sclerosis, Isolation patients and patients with other infections and Complex family issues. The unit has 8 telemetry beds to monitor patients with suspected cardiac involvement.

Scope of WorkNurses, under the ANA scope of practice, utilize the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles. Nurses provide quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health's policies and procedures. Applies the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and discharge needs of patient/family/significant other. Partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care. Demonstrates knowledge of and competently performs technical procedures and uses equipment properly. Documents in the patient record in a timely, accurate and concise manner. Develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.

QualificationsAssociates in Nursing Required, Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years, External candidates are required to have a minimum of 15 months of clinical experience (1 year clinical experience plus completion of nursing orientation) required. External candidate must successfully complete a competency assessment provided by nursing education required, MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required, AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required upon hire, Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years.
