About the Role

Howard Brown Health is a leading healthcare organization dedicated to providing inclusive and affirming care to the LGBTQ+ community. We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Specialist to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Answer incoming calls and provide information and assistance to clients
  • Schedule appointments for medical, behavioral health, and dental providers
  • Verify and collect demographic and billing information
  • Document and make changes to patient demographic information
  • Route calls to appropriate individuals or departments
  • Monitor schedules for errors or overbooking
  • Validate and correct insurance information as required
  • Support the mission statement to develop, enhance, and promote quality customer service through team effort
Requirements
  • High school degree or GED required
  • Proficient use of computer applications such as GE Centricity, Excel, and Word
  • Strong communication and ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • 1 year of experience in a call center or patient access setting
  • Successful completion of telephonic customer service training and de-escalation training
  • Proficiency in all call center representative competencies and insurance training
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 or more years of experience in a call center or financial counseling setting
  • Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurances
  • CPT and ICD-9 coding desirable
  • Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing Spanish
Working Conditions

Works under minimal direction. Primary work setting is an indoor office/healthcare environment.
