Job Summary

The State of Nebraska is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Highway Maintenance Worker/Senior. As a key member of our transportation operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of our state's roadways and highways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of heavy equipment, including trucks, tractors, and mowers, to maintain roadways and highways.
  • Perform manual labor tasks, such as mowing, trimming, and cleaning, to maintain roadways and highways.
  • Install and remove signs, fences, and guardrails to ensure safe travel conditions.
  • Apply surfacing materials, such as concrete and asphalt, to repair and maintain roadways and highways.
  • Control traffic through and around construction and maintenance projects, using established safety procedures.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the maintenance of our state's roadways and highways.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must have a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with air brakes and tanker endorsements within 60 days of employment.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience in the operation of heavy equipment and a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement.
