Job Summary

The Counter Sales Associate is a key member of our sales team, responsible for providing strong customer service in a sales-oriented setting. This role is ideal for individuals who possess excellent communication skills, a strong background in technical support, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Essential Duties/Accountabilities

  • Represent Baker Distributing Company as a leader in the industry, ensuring maximum sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders, including sales teams, vendors, and contractors.
  • Responsible for showroom merchandising and re-stocking product, ensuring a visually appealing and well-organized sales environment.
  • Assist in resolving customer relations problems, providing timely and effective solutions to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Complete sales order processes, including up-selling associated items to increase revenue and customer satisfaction.
  • Service walk-in and telephone customers, providing expert advice and support to meet their product and service needs.
  • Provide product and service information to customers, utilizing computer systems, catalogs, and other reference sources.
  • Arrange stock on shelves or racks in sales areas, maintaining a clean and organized sales environment.
  • Apply suggestive selling techniques and up-sell to current and prospective customers, increasing revenue and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct outgoing customer sales or service calls, resolving customer complaints and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, ensuring the success of the sales team and the company.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a strong background in technical support and customer service.
  • Intermediate MS Office capabilities and proficiency in speaking, reading, and understanding English.
  • Minimum 1+ year experience in a Counter Sales role, preferably in the HVAC industry.
  • Knowledge of air conditioning, heating, and ventilation equipment at a wholesale distribution level.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including sales, problem-solving, and customer service focus.
  • Ability to work independently, meeting assigned goals and objectives in designated time frames.
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment, with skills to multi-task on different levels.
  • Excellent customer service mindset, with the ability to develop long-term relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must possess and maintain a current, valid Driver's License.
