Job Opportunity

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas is seeking a highly qualified Postdoctoral Scholar of Mechanical Engineering to join our team in the College of Engineering. This position is part of a project funded by the Department of Energy for the ARPA-E ROSIE program to decarbonize ironmaking.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for completing project milestones, which may include research tasks involving prototype design and fabrication, material characterization, electrochemistry, experimentation, simulation, and data analysis. They will also be expected to cooperate with other team members, set research timelines and schedules, budget research expenditures, and organize meetings.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must have a PhD from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). They must also have experience in design and fabrication, and performing experiments to measure performance or characterize materials.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in performing electrochemical experiments, computer simulation of fluid flows with heat and mass transfer, life cycle analysis, technoeconomic analysis, and/or entrepreneurship is preferred.
