Key Responsibilities
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts radiologic examinations utilizing x-ray apparatus as per physician directives. Engages with patients to introduce themselves and thoroughly elucidate the procedure prior to commencement. Gathers comprehensive patient history, including any prior allergic reactions, relevant medical history, and other critical information pertinent to patient safety. Positions patients appropriately in the x-ray apparatus for each view, applying the correct techniques (MA, time, KVP) to minimize radiation exposure while employing suitable shielding, collimation, and immobilization devices as necessary for each age group.
- Communicates with patients regarding any delays exceeding 15 minutes from the scheduled appointment time.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of assigned workspaces, checks emergency equipment, and promptly reports any low supplies to the supervising technician. Replenishes any utilized supplies immediately following the completion of an examination.
- Acquires and applies sterile techniques when required for specific procedures, assisting the radiologist during fluoroscopy and specialized imaging tasks.
- Familiarizes with the hospital and radiology information systems, including the proper use of the PACS system.
- Regularly reviews communication boards and mailboxes for updates on hospital policies, procedures, and other relevant information.
- Performs additional tasks as assigned or necessary.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Proven clinical proficiency in radiology.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on interpersonal effectiveness.
- Ability to operate independently and exercise sound judgment, demonstrating creativity in problem-solving.
- Capacity to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities while managing special requests and projects.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in high-pressure situations while maintaining professionalism.
- Commitment to providing empathetic patient care.
- Attention to detail is crucial.
All post-secondary education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Additional educational qualifications may substitute for experience requirements, provided they do not conflict with state or board certification/license mandates.
- Associate's Degree in Radiology is required.
- Preferred: 2 years of experience in imaging-related roles.
- Active Radiologic Technologist License in the state is required.
- ARRT (R) Radiography Registration from The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required.
- Basic Life Support Certification is required.
Adheres to the Standards of Conduct as outlined in the Employee Relations Code.
