Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Clinical Laboratory Specialist, you will:
- Conduct both STAT and routine clinical laboratory tests on biological samples, utilizing manual techniques and automated equipment.
- Ensure timely reporting of valid and accurate patient results.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate testing and interpret results.
- Provide on-call support for Transplant Services as required by your designated area.
- Engage in operational support activities to maintain and enhance testing capabilities.
To be considered for this role, you should possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Medical/Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related health field.
- Completion of a clinical laboratory training program.
- For those with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or Chemistry, completion of a clinical laboratory training program or relevant clinical experience will be considered.
- Successful completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technologist/Technician program.
We seek candidates who:
- Can produce accurate results under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess strong communication skills and work well in a team setting.
- Are flexible with scheduling, including off shifts, holidays, on-call, and weekend assignments.
- Have at least one year of relevant experience.
Medical Technologists should have a comprehensive understanding of methods, instrumentation, and principles relevant to their assigned areas, as outlined in departmental competency checklists.
Physical requirements include the ability to use both hands, work with arms above shoulder level, distinguish colors, and work irregular hours. You must also be able to work safely around machinery and tolerate patient contact, including with immunosuppressed individuals.
Licenses or Certifications:Required certifications include:
- State Clinical Technologist license in relevant areas such as chemistry, hematology, microbiology, serology, immunohematology, or histocompatibility.
- Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or an equivalent certification.
This position offers a competitive hourly wage along with eligibility for benefits.
ScheduleThis is a full-time role with a schedule of Monday to Friday from 3:00 PM to 11:30 AM, and rotating weekends and holidays as needed.
