We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our Blood Bank team at Ascension Riverside Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing complex technical procedures and functions to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
Key Responsibilities- Specimen Acceptance: Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
- Technical Procedures: Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
- Instrumentation: Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
- Problem Solving: Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
- Reagent Development: Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
- Test Reporting: Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
- Quality Control: Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
- Supply Management: Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
- Specimen Processing: Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
- Work Environment: Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements.
- Licensure: FL Medical Technologist (MT) license required.
- Certification: ASCP or AMT certification required.
- Skills: Ability to work independently and within a team environment, proficient with computers, and familiarity with laboratory information systems.
- Personal Qualities: High level of attention to detail, strong communication and organizational skills, and ability to pass a standardized color vision screen.
- Flexibility: Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
